Bluetooth Tracker — Why Does It Have Range Across the Whole of Poland?

5 September 2022

Bluetooth trackers are growing in popularity in Poland. Thanks to clever technology and a growing community of users, they can pinpoint a lost item even hundreds of kilometres away. How does it work, and how is it different from classic GPS? Find out in our guide!

Bluetooth isn’t just for headphones and speakers

Bluetooth technology is everywhere these days – we use it daily in headphones, smartwatches and car systems. But it’s increasingly being used in trackers for keys, bikes, handbags and even pets.

And although the classic Bluetooth range is usually around 100 metres, Bluetooth trackers can work across the whole of Poland. How is that possible? Thanks to an innovative combination of Bluetooth, mobile apps and a community of users. We’ve already written an article for you about what a Bluetooth tracker is and how to use it, and now we’ll use our own devices as an example to show you how it works.

The advantages of Bluetooth trackers

These are small devices that can be hidden in or attached to an important item – keys, a scooter, or even the family pet! The number of uses for Bluetooth trackers is endless! The only limit is your imagination. What’s more, Bluetooth trackers use very little power, so you don’t have to worry about replacing the battery in the device. It doesn’t need a battery change for up to 365 days. These trackers are also very affordable – you can check out our range here.

How does the notiOne tracker work?

The notiOne go! PLUS tracking device works using Bluetooth technology, communicating with a dedicated app. In Poland, more and more people own a smartphone with apps that support the tracker system. You almost certainly have them on your smartphone too.

Any phone that comes near a notiOne tracker attached to a lost item will automatically pick up its signal, determine its location and send that data straight to the server.

The location of the lost item carrying the notiOne go! PLUS Bluetooth tracker is then passed on to the owner as a marker on the map and an address in the notiOne app on their smartphone.

What is the range of Bluetooth technology?

Our devices send out a signal that is picked up by phones with apps supporting our system installed, as long as they are within 90 m of the tracker.

If a phone “catches” the signal from a notiOne device, it determines its location using its own GPS, and that information is then sent to the phone of the item’s owner. It all happens very quickly and automatically, which means lost items can be tracked not just over very long distances, but across the whole of Poland!

There are currently over 5 million users in Poland of the notiOne app and of the apps that support the notiOne system, so information about the location of a lost item can reach its owner from the most far-flung corners of the country.

Where might Bluetooth trackers have trouble working properly?

In less populated places, such as forests or fields, the notiOne signal will only be picked up when devices that work with the system happen to be nearby.

Our trackers will also work outside Poland, though not with all their features. Why? Because outside Poland there isn’t such a wide network of users with apps that work with notiOne installed, so the tracker will only be located within range of the owner’s own phone.
