In many a home, the remote is a symbol of domestic power. A totem of free choice, the key to endless hours of entertainment. It’s also a very capricious device that likes to hide in unexpected places, probably to get some rest. How do you find the TV remote quickly?

1. Stick a small tracker to the remote

The latest internet-connected TVs let you control the set from a phone app. It’s a convenient solution: if you can’t find the remote but you have your phone to hand, you have nothing to worry about.

Don’t waste time and nerves searching
