We Tested InPost International Shipping – What Surprised Us?

3 January 2025

InPost, known for revolutionising the Polish parcel market, has set out to conquer the international market. Thanks to attractive prices and ease of use, the service is attracting a lot of interest. But does the reality live up to expectations? We decided to find out by sending a parcel from Poland to Spain and monitoring its route with our notiOne GPS PLUS tracker.

A parcel with a tracker from Poznań to Barcelona for PLN 54.99

For the test, we sent a parcel of the maximum size C (390 × 380 × 640 mm, weight up to 25 kg) from Poznań to Barcelona. The total cost was PLN 54.99, which puts the service among the cheaper options on the market. Thanks to the notiOne GPS PLUS tracker, we were able to follow every stage of its journey.

According to InPost, the parcel was supposed to reach its destination within a maximum of 5 days. The reality was different – the parcel was only delivered after 8 days. What happened along the way?

The parcel’s journey in detail: what went to plan, and what didn’t?

  • Days 1–2: The parcel travelled without a hitch from Poznań to Lens in France, covering around 1,300 km. This stage of the journey went smoothly, which points to well-organised transport between countries.
  • Days 3–4: After covering more kilometres, the parcel arrived at the sorting centre in Barcelona. At this point it looked as though delivery would go ahead as planned.
  • Days 5–7: Problems appeared. The parcel was sent out for delivery twice, but each attempt failed. The parcel kept going back to the sorting centre, even though it was just a few hundred metres from the parcel locker. This clearly points to problems with local logistics.
  • Day 8: Only the third delivery attempt was successful, and the parcel finally reached the recipient.

What did we learn from the test?

Our test revealed several important points about InPost’s international shipping.

Advantages:

  • Competitive prices: The cost of shipping is one of the lowest on the market, which makes the offer attractive, especially for people looking for budget solutions.
  • Growth potential: The parcel locker network in Poland works brilliantly and could be expanded into international markets, which would allow InPost to significantly increase its market share.

Challenges:

  • Delivery problems: The last-mile stage in Barcelona showed that cooperation with local carriers and the infrastructure in the destination country need improving.
  • Lack of precise information: The parcel tracking system in the InPost app got stuck on the status “received at sorting centre”, with no information about the delivery attempts. This kind of ambiguity can be frustrating for customers.

If you’re planning to use this service, bear a few important things in mind. First, allow some extra time – especially if the parcel contains personal items or other things that need to arrive on time. Second, remember that although the price is undoubtedly the strong point of this offer, delivery times and the tracking system may still need further improvement.

How did notiOne GPS PLUS help with the analysis?

Thanks to the notiOne GPS PLUS tracker, we were able to follow every stage of the parcel’s journey in real time. This allowed us to pinpoint problems such as delays and failed delivery attempts.

A device like this is a great tool not only for tests, but also for everyday use. Tracking parcels, protecting important items or keeping an eye on personal belongings – all of it is easier with notiOne GPS PLUS.

Conclusions from our parcel

Our test showed that InPost’s international shipping is an interesting option, especially given the attractive price. Not everything went to plan, though – delivery problems and the lack of precise information in the tracking system are areas that definitely need improvement.

Thanks to notiOne GPS PLUS, we were able to trace every stage of the parcel’s journey in detail and draw conclusions that could help both customers and InPost itself to improve the service. Despite some difficulties, we see great potential – now all that’s left is to keep our fingers crossed for the next steps in its development! 😊
